Reach's unit is a data connection, so its rows are not a company count. At 25 connections Reach is $550 a month billed monthly or $4,620 billed annually, and an added connection is $149 a month on the 1-connection card, $29 on the 10-connection card and $22 on the 25-connection card. Joiin Core is $183 a month at 20 companies and $224 at 50, billed monthly.

On Reach's annual plan every connection is billed for the full year up front, with no credit if a company is disconnected before the year ends. Reach's tiers do not step up on their own when a group adds connections. Annual totals for Joiin are on Joiin pricing.

Trial, users and currencies

Reach offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card during the trial, and unlimited users and multi-currency consolidation on every plan. Joiin's trial is shorter, 14 days, but it runs on Max and needs no card. Joiin lists unlimited users on every paid plan, and several reporting currencies start on Pro.

By default both convert profit and loss at monthly average rates and the balance sheet at month-end rates, with rates from Open Exchange Rates. Reach's help center says it will handle currency translation adjustments automatically in the near future and gives manual workarounds; Joiin adds a balancing adjustment automatically. Reach's conversion works for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero consolidations, not for CSV or MYOB ones.

What Reach's help center documents for a group

  • Systems: Xero companies consolidate only with other Xero companies, while QuickBooks Online and Desktop companies can be combined.
  • Eliminations: whole accounts only, never part of an account, using dedicated intercompany accounts; a report can include, ignore or show them, and they are not removed from the cash flow statement.
  • Limits: no aging statements in a consolidation, three years of history, and budgets and forecasts built per company.

Joiin's elimination by transaction sums the journal entries for one account and contact pair, for Xero and QuickBooks companies.

Who should pick Joiin and who should pick Reach Reporting

Pick Joiin for a group that counts companies, wants an ownership percentage on each entity and mixes Xero and QuickBooks Online, which Joiin says it combines and Reach's help center does not. Pick Reach Reporting for a 30-day trial and multi-currency consolidation on its entry plan; its home page says built for financial leaders, while its page title names accountants.

Fathom, the financial reporting app (fathomhq.com), is a third option; see Joiin vs Fathom. Reach Reporting alternatives lists the wider field.
