Try Joiin →Where the consolidated numbers live
JustConsolidate keeps the group books inside QuickBooks. You create a new QuickBooks company with a chart of accounts you design, connect your companies and map their accounts. Its workflows post a trial balance journal entry into the new company, and JustConsolidate says the group reports run from there. Your existing companies stay untouched because it is read-only.
Joiin keeps the group reports in the Joiin app, beside your accounting files. Joiin pulls data from your accounting files and builds reports from it; its Xero help article says it writes nothing back to Xero. Company data refreshes every 24 hours or on demand, and profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports come on every plan.
Eliminations, minority interest and currencies
JustConsolidate handles intercompany eliminations through a post-consolidation workflow and books minority interest and other adjustments as ordinary journal entries in the consolidation company. For foreign subsidiaries it lists month-average and ending rates for over 200 currencies.
Joiin sets up eliminations as elimination groups, by account, by contact or by transaction; only the account and transaction methods change the financial statements. You can assign an ownership percentage to each entity. Several reporting currencies start on Pro, and your own exchange rates are Max only.
Groups with a Xero or Sage Accounting company
JustConsolidate needs admin rights on each QuickBooks company, and its page takes entities outside QuickBooks by manual trial balance journal entry. Its page says it is built for accountants who run multi-entity groups in QuickBooks and lists in-house teams among its users.
Joiin connects Xero and Sage Accounting directly, as well as QuickBooks Online. The Sage connection covers Sage Accounting in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland; Sage 50 and other Sage desktop products come in by manual company import. The consolidation software for QuickBooks list sets these two beside the other options.
Trial length and who should pick which
Joiin's trial is 14 days on Max with no card, against JustConsolidate's minimum of 30 days, which also runs until the first consolidation is posted.
